[...] Man’yōshū podcast. I was surprised when I clicked on it – not only is it sponsored by JR (If you don’t love the JR, I’m convinced you are a miserable, unhappy person), it’s a video podcast that introduces poems from the Man’yōshū. You can watch the [...]

Juan - I wonder how many Metro stations have restaurants? Only Omotesando immediately comes to mind - they did a great job renovating that station. Definitely fits the neighborhood.

JLJZen - Definitely have to be careful, but it only took me two days. I was aiming to do all of them in one go but had to give up after seven beers. Most of the cups are pretty small, and if you stay hydrated and keep snacking I don't think it would be too bad. But then you'd be drinking in the station all day long when there are plenty of other great places in Tokyo, heh. These are probably best used to kill time, although a couple of them are actually pretty nice.

Nice review! I gather that this isn't the kinda thing one could undertake over a weekend, one day in particular...

Yes! I think the Chuo Line definitely has the next most possibilities after the Yamanote. Then maybe the Keihin-Tohoku Line.

I was the most impressed/surprised with Kanda because it wasn't a chain (at least I don't think it was) and had great drink specials. Shinagawa was great, too, because the pastries at Paul are extremely tasty.
