I think I offended the guy at Jupiter today when I gave him a very curt いいです because I was busy looking for someone. Kinda feel bad about that.
Yeah, tone is so key. At a restaurant today I heard a guy said ビール一本頂戴, which seems pretty blunt, but the tone was light enough for it to be totally normal.
